Fees & Payments

We understand the natural concern and trepidation that many small businesses owners have about legal fees. The fact is, we are all concerned about the price of everything we purchase, and no one wants to commit to buying something when the price is unknown.

Our billing practices are designed to be as transparent as possible. In many matters, we are able to offer fixed fees or flexible billing arrangements in order to provide more certainty. We understand that the more certainty that can be provided, the easier that it is for business budgeting purposes.

For some matters, the amount of time that ultimately may be required may be more difficult to determine, and may be subject to a number of contingencies that are outside of our control. Transactional matters, such as contract negotiation, often fit in this category.

In these cases, we usually try to provide clients with an estimate or range of likely legal fees based upon our experience and assuming a certain course of action. In many of these matters, providing a fixed fee may not make sense, as the client may overpay for the legal work provided.

While we may not be able to predict the exact cost of a transaction or similar matter, we can provide a budget in terms of the estimated legal fees on a monthly basis over the course of a matter, and will, of course, advise you if an unexpected event arises that is likely to greatly change the fees expected.

It is our policy to require a retainer before beginning any project.

For the convenience of our clients, we accept payment by check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.
